SPELL it out!
SPELL it out!

Hello Bloomers!

Ever look at your herb garden and forget which sprig is thyme and which is oregano? Been there, sniffed that. This spring, I decided to add a little personality (and clarity!) to my herb box with a DIY project that’s as fun as it is functional: custom herb markers made from bamboo plant stakes, Scrabble-style letter tiles, and a trusty hot glue gun.

And let me tell you—it was a blooming good time!

What You’ll Need:

  • Bamboo plant stakes (I bought mine on Amazon, here)

  • Scrabble-style wooden letter tiles (I bought mine on Amazon, here)

  • Hot glue gun (aka the real MVP)

  • Your favorite herbs: basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, chili peppers—whatever’s growing in your garden!

How I Did It:

First, I laid out the letters for each herb like I was about to win at Words With Friends—BOOM: BASIL. Then, I hot glued each tile in a row onto the top of the bamboo stake. Once dry (which takes about 3 minutes), I popped them into the soil next to each plant.

The result? Instant charm. Instant color. Instant “where’d you get those?!” vibes.

Why I Love Them:

  • They add such a fun, rustic touch to your garden.

  • They’re seriously easy to make—and totally giftable for fellow plant lovers!

Stick them in the soil, take a step back, and admire how cute your herb babies look with their new name tags. It’s giving garden party meets farmhouse chic.

So if you’ve got 20 minutes, a glue gun, and the urge to organize your basil from your thyme ~ this project’s for you.
